  1. A double riveted cover butt joint is used for connecting two plates of 12 mm thickness. The diameter of the rivets is 22 mm. Calculate the necessary pitch and efficiency of the joint.Use PDSR. (τvf=100 N/mm2pf=300N/mm2.)
  2. SA 75 X 50 X 10 mm is to be connected to a gusset plate by 6 mm fillet weld. The load tobe transmitted is 160 kN. Design the weld, Take τvf=102.5N/mm
  3. Design the double angle member if the angles are placed back to back with their longer legs connected on the same side of the gusset plate. The tension member is subjected to a pull of210 kN. Use 16mm PDSR,.,τvf=100 N/mm2, σpf=300N/mm2, σat=150N/mm2.
  1. A simply supported beam carries a superimposed load of 3 kN/m on a clear span of 6.5 m. Design the beam section if the beam is laterally supported along its span.
  2. A single strut ISA 65X65X8mm ofaro of truss is1.36mlong.It is connected by one rivet a teach end. Calculate the safe load, the strut can carry. Refer steel table for stresses etc.
